Teen Eagle Flyers

Teen Eagle Flyers are academically motivated youngsters who do not participate in drug, gang, or alcohol activities. Members are given projects that challenge them to set and achieve higher goals for themselves, for their peers, and for the community. Each member receives the opportunity to pilot a small aircraft and acquire an accredited USUA Pilot's Certification. The club members will work towards obtaining their very own club owned aircraft. A family/friend fly day event will be scheduled when the student passes his/her ground school and receives their student passport and first co-pilot flight.

Leighanne has now earned eight lessons by bringing her school grades up and by voluntary service at the Airport and at the VFW helping serve food during Thanksgiving for the Food Bank. Her first two lessons involved Aircraft Familiarization, Taxiing, S-Turns, 360 Degree Turns Around A Point, Pattern Familiarization, and Stalls. At the rate Leighanne is progressing she should be qualified to solo before the end of Spring, however due to the USUA requirements she will not be able to solo until her 16th birthday in June. Our thanks to Leighanne for all the effort she has put into the Teen Eagle program. Others earning lessons this past week were Julian, Suzie, and Cassie. The Teen Eagles have had 4 meetings now and are in the process of electing club officers and finalizing the name for their club.

Update Leighanne has now completed her cross country flight accompanied by her instructor.
